Louise Fowler
  • Name: Louise Fowler
  • School: Vyne Community School
  • Course: Painting and Decorating Foundation, City & Guilds Construction Award

Having completed AS levels in psychology, maths and travel & tourism and GCSE Spanish, I decided to study something more practical and chose painting and decorating because I enjoy DIY.

When I started the course I didn’t know what to expect but everything was explained and the lecturers were really helpful and all the lessons enjoyable. I particularly enjoyed the practical side of the course painting, puttying, stencilling and decorative effects.

BCoT has a dedicated painting and decorating workshop where students are encouraged to work at their own pace and be creative with lots of support from lecturers. In addition to wallpapering and painting, students learn about decorative effects and create themed rooms.

I’m glad I chose this course and will be returning next year to do the Intermediate Craft Award through an apprenticeship. I intend to set up my own painting and decorating company working for vulnerable families or elderly people.

Tutor Comment
