After leaving school, it took me a year to decide that I wanted to do Business and I knew that BCoT was the best place to go.
Initially I wanted to do something to do with accounting, but in the end I opted to do a course that is a bit more general, so that I can decide later what I want to specialise in.
As part of the course, we have looked at all aspects of Business, including marketing, finances and team development. I found the marketing and retail aspects of the course really interesting. We have also been on a number of trips, including visits to Cadbury World and a team-building exercise at Avon Tyrrell – and we might even be going to New York!
The course has a lot of practical work, which suits me. I found accounting quite difficult, but all I had to do was ask the tutors for extra help and they gave me the support I needed.
The atmosphere at BCoT suits me as it is not too stressful and I didn’t want to return to a ‘school’ environment. I’ve got really close to the students on my course and you spend a lot of time with people who have a lot in common with you.
I intend to try and get some work experience before deciding what I want to do for a career in the long term, but the Business qualification gives you access to lots of different industries.”
