Training for the Engineering Industry from BETA and Apprenticeships at BCoT
Work has begun on BCoT’s £3 million investment in its buildings and facilities on the South site in Worting Rd. The re-vamp of the college fascia will be ready for the start of term in September when BCoT will welcome its new wave of students. The Technology centre will be ready at the end of November. Engineering and Automotive students will start their programme at our BETA centre and then will move into the brand new centre at the start of the spring term in 2012.
The refurbishment has been designed by Basingstoke architects Design ACB Ltd who have worked closely with the BCoT team throughout the consultation process. The revamp will see a renovation of the main building on the South site and a complete overhaul of the Engineering and Automotive block.
Work will include a widening of the entrance steps to both the North and South sites along Worting Road to improve access and ease circulation around both campuses. All improvements will adhere to DDA (Disability Discrimination Act) guidelines and reflect BCoT’s commitment to equality and diversity for all staff and students.
The refurbishment and extension of the Engineering and Automotive block will bring an increased focus on innovation and technology and will also combine Science and Maths subjects. The aim is to make BCoT a centre of excellence for Technology, reinforcing the college’s extensive links with industry.
“I am thrilled that work has begun on the redevelopment programme at the college. The refurbishments will greatly improve the appearance of buildings, enhance the overall learner experience and ensure that BCoT is one of the best learning centres for technology in our region.”
“We are delighted to have been working with the College on these improvement which will offer wonderful new spaces within which to learn. The works to the frontage will improve the environmental performance whilst making a significant visual improvement to Worting Road.”
